Yamgo Enables Video Viral Marketing on Mobile Devices
24 August 2010
Yamgo, the global mobile TV network, has launched a mobile phone video viral marketing service that enables consumers to send videos to their friends without the need to download any software. This opens a new distribution method for brands to use consumers to virally spread adverts on mobile devices.
Mobile TV and video has seen a steady increase in popularity over the past few years, but sharing videos across networks and different devices has not been possible due to the different operating systems and software. Broadcasters, content owners and marketers with content published on the Yamgo network can have all their digital media encoded for almost all phones and plugged into a platform that enables it to be shared easily from one phone to another.
Video social networking sites such as YouTube achieved significant success in allowing users to share their viewing experience by sending emails with video play links to friends. Yamgo’s platform takes this concept to mobile devices using SMS text messaging and a mobile content delivery network that optimises video delivery to different phones and networks. Users recommend and share videos and live TV with each other using Yamgo’s free send-to-friend service, which aims to enable TV and video to be freely shared across the mobile Internet.
Yamgo allows consumers to share their mobile TV experience by enabling almost all mobile phones to play live TV and video links sent by friends. Whilst also empowering brands to capitalise on a creative way to engage their audience and turn consumers into marketers.
“Mobile phones were originally designed as a communication device, today they are personal entertainment platforms with the power to engage and captivate audiences. Yamgo’s technology makes mobile TV a social experience by allowing consumers to instantly share what they are watching anywhere anytime. It could be a live TV programme that you want a friend to see or a funny viral video you must share, it’s now possible using Yamgo’s mobile TV platform”, stated Yamgo’s CEO and founder Ian Mullins.
Yamgo distributes branded content and linear TV across its mobile delivery network to create a unique mobile presence for content owners. The global mobile TV and video network utilises the inherent power of mobile internet and user's networks of friends to launch viral marketing campaigns that engage users with the brand.

Voting for the twelve categories is now open to the public and will continue until September 13th. The three finalists in each section, comprised of those with the most votes, will be announced on September 20th by the organisers. Android Overtakes iPhone for Watching Linear Mobile TV
6 August 2010
Android based handsets have displaced the iPhone as the most popular device for consuming live mobile TV. The Apple device, regarded by so many as the leading offering in the smartphone industry, has been overtaken by the increasingly popular Android smartphones.
Analysis of 50,000 Android and 50,000 Apple (iPod, iPhone and iPad) users on the Yamgo mobile TV platform sampled at random during July 2010 showed that Android phone owners watched 23 minutes of linear TV per session in comparison to twenty minutes for Apple operating system users. Since Yamgo’s mobile TV support for Android live TV and video launched less than three months ago the uptake and usage have been impressive and clearly shows Apple is losing its position as the number one mobile TV platform.
With Android securing twenty seven percent of the smartphone market share in the second quarter of 2010, (Nielsen Aug 2010), Yamgo believes it will become a critical platform for content owners and broadcasters to support. Introduced into the smartphone market less than two years ago, Android handsets continue to outsell iPhones and display notable growth in terms of adoption and functionality. The launch of larger screen Android phones and tablets has fuelled a rising demand amongst users eager to watch high quality live TV and video on their powerful and attractive new devices.
Yamgo’s founder and CEO Ian Mullins commented, “The uptake of Yamgo’s Android TV service has been better than expected. As the Android platform continues to grow in popularity and availability, Yamgo will play a vital role in consumer adoption of Android mobile TV. With more Android devices being released in the near future, Yamgo will increase its linear TV and on-demand programming to satisfy the rapidly growing marketing for streaming mobile TV.”
Yamgo is quickly becoming the mobile content delivery network of choice for companies that want to publish and monetise linear TV across multiple mobile devices. Yamgo is also compatible with Symbian, Windows and Blackberry operating systems.
“At a time when progressively fragmented audiences are watching live TV and video content on multiple devices, broadcasters, media companies and service providers need an easy and flexible way to distribute content across multiple handsets and operating systems. Our content delivery network makes it easier than ever for companies to reach Android users, in addition to our existing audiences that include iPhone, iPad, Nokia and Blackberry devices”, added Ian Mullins.

Yamgo Delivers Linear TV to Mobile Phones Worldwide Via Optimised Live Streaming Platform That Does Not Require an App to Watch Live TV on Your Phone
30 July 2010
Yamgo, the global mobile TV delivery platform, has announced that its mobile internet streaming technology will be powering a new global mobile live TV network allowing programme makers to broadcast linear TV and catch up TV without the need to have an application loaded onto the phone and works on almost all mobile devices worldwide.
The pioneering mobile Content Delivery Network (CDN) developed by Yamgo provides the technology (ingest, encode, hosting, management and optimised publishing) to deliver linear TV and catch up content for broadcasters, media companies and service providers allowing them to extend their brands, reach a new audience and monetise their content on phones.
Unlike the fragmented applications market, Yamgo’s live streaming solution is accessible through almost any mobile browser, so it's not limited to a particular device, operating system, or manufacturer. The solution includes the ability to stream linear TV, looped programming and long-form catch up TV which provides broadcasters, media companies and service providers with an opportunity to distribute their content to the mass market using a simple cost effective solution.
Yamgo CEO and Founder Ian Mullins added “Consumers have shown a strong appetite to consume TV on the go; Yamgo’s new live streaming platform offers content providers a low cost, mass market global reach mobile TV solution that is designed to work on almost all phones and networks that support video streaming. Our solution does not require any applications to deliver an optimised TV experience, which significantly reduces costs and on-going maintenance; however if the TV channel does have an existing app or wants an iPhone app they can simply add the Yamgo encoded stream to their iPhone application, TV widget or Android App”.
The global mobile TV network delivered by Yamgo also enables content owners to make their product immediately available to mobile customers and mobile search engines. The Yamgo solution allows the customer to interact with the content without the need for downloading any software or application. With the Yamgo favicon bookmarked on their homepage, the user is never more than just one click away from optimised live TV streaming and video on demand.
By utilising the Yamgo technology to distribute mobile content media providers can avoid the vast maintenance costs associated with applications. Adopting an application based strategy for content distribution would require individual programmers to maintain and update Apple iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Mobile, Nokia and Blackberry apps and require users to update their apps to benefit from any developments. Yamgo’s optimised streaming technique delivers a service that can rapidly innovate and refine across all platforms without requiring the user to update and download.

Whilst the glory days of teams such as Glasgow Rangers, Norwich City, Newcastle United and Ipswich Town also feature in the visionsport.TV catalogue.
It’s worth remembering that it wasn’t that long ago that watching football on your mobile phone was such a terrible experience that fans preferred listening to the action on the radio. It was nearly impossible to recognise players, which teams were playing and where the ball was when watching on a small poor quality mobile screen.
The ability to enjoy top quality video on mobile phones is down to visionsport.TV’s partnership with the leading mobile TV provider Yamgo.
John Gubba, the entrepreneurial producer-director behind visionsport.TV, is keen to position visionsport.mobi at the forefront of the growing mobile sports videos market. “We have spent the past 20 years delivering goals on video and DVD – but mobile is the future. World Environment Day (WED) 2010 is set to benefit from increased recognition amongst young people around the world thanks to a mobile TV and video service that will allow viewers to watch video on demand dedicated to raising awareness of the United Nations event.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has held the annual event since 1972 and this year it will be hosted by Rwanda on June 5th and will celebrate the incredible diversity of the environment as part of the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity.
Young people are essential to the long term success of the project and the service launched by Yamgo, the global mobile TV and video network, will allow the UN to connect with a young universal audience. Yamgo has partnered with Green.TV, the world’s first and leading online TV channel dedicated to the environment, to deliver clips and short films, from some of the world’s leading environmental organisations, to raise awareness and promote the significant occasion.
Mike Lamond, Managing Director of Green.TV explained, “World Environment Day (WED) is one of the primary vehicles through which the United Nations encourages worldwide understanding of the environment and 2010 is aimed to be the biggest, most extensively celebrated, global day for definite, environmental action. Green TV’s partnership with both UNEP and Yamgo enables us to promote the importance of the environment to a young international audienceand raise awareness and understanding of such a substantial subject on such a momentous day.”

Yamgo CEO and Founder Ian Mullins added, “World Environment Day is the people's day for environmental action and everyone can take part. Mobilizing the younger population can often be difficult therefore Yamgo is proud to be galvanising support for this considerable event by delivering high quality mobile video to an international audience. Mobile TV Network Yamgo has released a version of its popular live streaming service especially for the iPad coinciding with the much hyped and anticipated launch of the new Apple Device in the UK.
The beta release by Yamgo, the mobile TV and video specialists, is an upgrade to its iPhone service and means that all users of the hottest consumer gadget can now enjoy mobile entertainment at the same quality as users of Apple’s iPhone. Yamgo’s solution also provides broadcasters and content owners with a simple way of monetising content across all mobile devices.
Unlike other iPad TV services Yamgo’s solution uses the existing video player in the user’s mobile device and therefore does not require an application download. Users simply go to www.yamgo.mobi on their iPad, register and start enjoying free live TV. UK consumers can enjoy a wide selection of live channels and global users have access to thousands of video clips from football to comedy.
The iPad, released at a time when consumer interest in mobile technology is growing rapidly, is widely expected to dominate the industry over the coming months. Yamgo’s pioneering beta service will make it possible for iPad users to experience mobile entertainment in the same way as Android, Nokia and iPhone viewers.
Yamgo CEO and Founder Ian Mullins explained, “The larger screen, portability and ease of use of the iPad combined with computing power make the device ideal for mobile TV and video. 20 May 2010
Android users will now receive live streaming of high-quality mobile TV and video on demand for the first time since the operating system’s launch in 2008.
The beta release by Yamgo, the mobile TV and video specialists, is an upgrade to its Android service following increased demand and means that almost all users of the Android handset can now enjoy mobile entertainment at the same quality as users of Apple’s iPhone.
The growing popularity of smart phones in recent years has led to increased competition between mobile companies to identify who can provide the best mobile experience for customers.
The iPhone has long been regarded as the leading smartphone, providing the greatest graphics, colours, sound and streaming.
In comparison, despite Android’s greater market share and the higher use of data services by Android customers, some users complain of poor sound, stuttering pictures and squashed screens whenever they attempt to watch mobile TV.
However, Yamgo’s pioneering beta service is about to change that situation for everybody. Now almost all smartphone users in the UK can enjoy high quality live mobile TV channels from some of the UK’s leading broadcasters, including BBC, ITV and Channel 4, using a 3G or Wi-Fi connection.
Yamgo CEO and Founder Ian Mullins added “The Yamgo service will change the way that Android users enjoy their phones by delivering high quality live mobile TV and video. The majority of Android users can now access an ever increasing number of live UK channels and a constantly updated catalogue of videos and experience the same high-quality enjoyed by those who use yamgo.mobi on the iPhone”
The free live TV service provides Android users and almost all other mobile consumers with the highest possible picture quality using the existing video player in the user’s mobile phone and does not require any additional software or application download.
Unlike many other providers, Yamgo operates optimised streaming that adapts the picture quality to the available network connectivity, minimising any buffering and providing a viewing experience even whilst on the move. Android users can register with Yamgo today at http://www.yamgo.mobi and experience top quality live streaming for the first time.

30 April 2010
The General Election campaign has registered another first with more than 5,000 people watching last night's televised leaders’ debate live on their mobile phone.
Figures produced by free live mobile TV company Yamgo, following the live BBC debate, showed that the viewing figures were the highest ever recorded for any programme watched in the UK on mobile. The previous record being the IPL T20 cricket last year with 2,900 viewers.
The company said that typically viewers who watch TV on their mobile do so because of its convenience, often when others in the household are watching another programme on the home's primary television, or those who do not have access to a TV because they are at work, travelling or in hospital.
Yamgo's CEO, Ian Mullins, said: 'More people watched the leaders' debate live on their mobile phone than have ever watched any other live broadcast in the UK, which shows that this General Election has re-engaged voters.
‘This is especially the case with the 18 to 28 age group, who are traditionally the early adopters of new technologies and certainly lead the way in terms of watching TV of their mobile.
‘Being able to watch the debate on a mobile handset meant that viewers could see and hear the party leaders pretty much wherever they were, even if a television was not available, and this is obviously what happened last night.'
Yamgo offers viewers the opportunity to watch live breaking news, the latest music videos, movies, exciting sports and the best entertainment shows. By using a 3G or Wi-Fi connection mobile users can instantly access television on the go without the need for any software downloads.
03 August 2009
Football has been added to the list of sports that can now be watched on mobile phones for free by simply clicking onto Yamgo.TV.
Following a collaboration between mobile TV experts Yamgo and web television channel visionsport.TV, highlights of the sport service is available to anyone with a mobile phone.
The first game to be available as free video on demand on a mobile phone in the UK is the highlights of the Ipswich v Colchester friendly match.
This testimonial game for the long serving Ipswich favourite Fabian Wilnis is Yamgo’s first step into free football TV for mobiles.
Former Manchester United and Ireland football legend Roy Keane can also be seen at www.yamgo.mobi talking about his new role as manager of the ‘tractor boys.’
Yamgo is providing the platform, technology and knowhow to stream visionsport.TV’s content.
Yamgo’s MD Ian Mullins explains: ‘The solution is optimised for 3G phones but dynamically adapts to 2.5G or WiFi speeds delivering the best quality of service possible.
‘There is nothing to pay and no software to download. All you have to do is type visionsport.mobi into the browser on your mobile phone.’
Yamgo was the sole mobile TV provider for live IPL cricket coverage across Europe earlier this summer and is keen to add to its list of live sports and edited highlights it shows.
All the programmes are free to receive to any mobile phone owner who has a web browsing package from their mobile provider. Yamgo’s business is based on a profit sharing model with revenue generated by advertising and sponsorship.
Visionsport.TV - the Web TV Channel was launched three months ago at MIPTV in Cannes by media entrepreneur John Gubba.
John launched Boro TV - Britain's first dedicated Football Club TV Channel twelve years ago. John said: ‘Visionsport is a brand I started in 1990 when we began publishing and distributing programmes for the Home Video Market. Since then I have produced, directed and published over 300 sports videos and DVDs promoting the visionsport brand as both a label and website destination.
‘The advances in technology mean the options now include rolling out our content via the mobile network, the web and set-top boxes to cable a
